Cartoons or animation can take us to different worlds, times, and dimensions and that is why we all love cartoons or animation.  We all grew up watching cartoons like Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Tom, and Jerry, etc, but nowadays Bengali cartoon shows are also competing with those legendary shows as Bengali animation industry has made some progress and making some fantastic cartoons these days.  Today, we are going to discuss the top-10 Bengali cartoon or animation shows and these are as follows:

  1. Gopal Bhar: Gopal Bhar is widely famous all over Bengal for delivering social messages in an intellectual jesting manner.  Being a court jester, Gopal Bhar was a Navaratna of Raja Krishnachandra, king of Nadia.  Gopal was a person who used to provide the utmost pleasure to others by his humorous and ridiculous speech.  He was well known for presenting perfect ideas at the perfect time.  Nowadays we are enjoying the Bengali Cartoon show based on Gopal Bhar.

  1. Nut Boltu: Nut and Boltu, a cartoon of two 10-year-old boys, who are good friends.  They use to get involved in many comical adventures where they use their wit or presence of mind to outwit many criminals.  This Bengali cartoon show is also getting popular day by day.

  1. Handa Bhonda: Handa Bhonda is a Bengali comic cartoon created by Narayan Debnath, which features two young boys, Handa(the slender one) and Bhonda (the bulky one).  Out of the two, Handa is more naughty and tries to put Bhonda in trouble; however, in most of the stories, Handa gets punished due to his foolishness.  Nowadays Handa Bhonda cartoon show also has gained huge popularity.

Nonte Fonte: Nonte Phonte is a Bengali comic created by Narayan Debnath, which features the ordinary lives of Nonte and Phonte, two 15 years and 16 years boys going to reside in a Boarding School with a school senior, Keltuda, who is 19 years old and their Boarding school Superintendent.  This cartoon show has also gained huge popularity among the audience.

Bantul The Great: Bantul The Great is a popular Bengali comic character created by Narayan Debnath, who fights the evil, catches thieves and brings justice in his locality.  Batul has a well-built body and has strength like a superhero.  He is so strong that he can lift the whole earth, run through a wall breaking it into pieces, kill whales and sharks with his bare hand, and even missiles cannot pierce his chest.  Unlike other heroes, Batul does not wear any attractive clothes, rather than he use to wear a pink vest and black shorts.  This cartoon character is widely read, not only by children but also by adults.  Bantul The Great cartoon is also being loved by many of us.

Chander-Buri O Magic Man: This cartoon show is aired on Zee Bangla TV.  Chander Buri is a well known fictional character who comes down from the land of the moon to earth to relate stories to the kids. Chander-Buri is probably more than 5000 yrs old and she does have mysterious magical powers, so she knows how the world was 5000 years ago and how it will be in the next 5000 years.  Magic-man is also a fictional character who has both magical powers and technological powers.  He lost his parents in space in a timeframe and now he is very eager to find them again, so from an unknown planet he set off his search in a spaceship.

  1. Thakurmar Jhuli: Thakurmar Jhuli is a collection of Bengali folk tales and fairy tales. Dakshinaranjan Mitra Majumder was the person who first collected some folk-stories of Bengali and published it under the name of “Thakurmar Jhuli” in 1907.  Some characters and stories like “Lalkamal-Nilkamal” and “Byangoma-Byangomi” have gained legendary status, especially among the children.  Hundreds of editions of the book have been published from Bangladesh and West Bengal since the original publication.  Thakurmar Jhuli cartoon show has also been appreciated for creating the magic again in Bengali.

Pandab Goenda: Pandab Goenda is a fictional detective gang of five children, created by Bengali novelist Sasthipada Chattopadhyay.  This gang loves to solve mysteries.  The gang member includes Bablu, Bilu, Bhombal, Bachhu, Bichhu, and they are being accompanied by a one-eyed street dog Panchu.  They all live in Howrah.  The stories of Pandab Goenda are very popular and well known in Bengali Children’s literature.  This cartoon show has gained popularity also.

Teni Da: Teni Da is a fictional character created by the author Narayan Gangopadhyay.  Teni Da is the leader of a group of four young lads who lived in the neighborhood of Potoldanga, Although Tenida did not have any academic capabilities but he was admired and respected by the other three for his presence of mind, courage, honesty as well as his vociferous appetite.  The cartoon show based on Tenida got has been praised by many viewers.

10.  Gini Zindabad:  Gini Zindabad is a 3D animation show aired on Zee Bangla.  This is a story of friendship between a little boy, Jule and a friendly spirit bound by a curse, Gini.  Jule is the main character of the show, who seems to have an easygoing nature and cannot judge people very well.  Being a simpleton, Jule is constantly bullied by his mates. His parents too scold him for every mistake that he makes. Being sad and lonely, Jule wishes for someone who could help him to wipe out all the problems of his life. While walking on desolate grounds he comes across Gini – a funny-looking yet an absolutely joyful character.  This chance encounter changes Jule’s life forever.  Jule helps lift Gini’s curse. In return, Gini stays forever by Jule’s side like a guardian angel.  Eventually, Gini and Jule become the best of friends – cheering each other’s spirits up whenever needed.  This show is known to be one of the best cartoon shows on Zee Bangla.
